With an experimental spirit, Shanna Waddell looks to visionaries and aspirational communities as research to pattern and base her artistic practice. Educator and painter, Waddell’s pursuit in beauty and utopic possibilities have brought on bodies of work that memorializes fallen religious cults, such as heavens gate, satan, and superstars. Currently, Waddell celebrates and looks to female forms of modality to embody a pursuit of enacted utopian vision of what art-making can be within diverse bodies of artistic practice. Solo and two-person exhibitions include Thomas Erben Gallery, New York, Galerie La Croix, Art Center College of Design, Ms. Barbers, Los Angeles, University of the Arts. Noted group exhibitions include Torrance Art Museum, Itd Los Angeles, and QUEENS LA. Waddell holds an MFA from Tyler School of Art.
